Kala Voyage Collection – Hibiscus Ukulele
For 2024, Mori cultural artist Sam Mangakahia brings two stunning new designs to Kala’s Voyage Collection, each carrying a story of strength and beauty. Resourceful features the White Hawaiian Hibiscus (Koki’o kea), a symbol of adaptability and generosity. This endemic species, native to the lush mountains of Moloka’i and O’ahu, has been used for centuries in lei making, traditional medicine, and crafting cordage for land and sea.
The artwork’s soft ivory tones contrast beautifully against the warm mahogany body, creating a piece that is as visually captivating as it is inspiring to play. Built in a tenor size for fuller tone and comfortable playability, the Resourceful ukulele is both a musical instrument and a cultural celebration.
