Medeli Electronics

• Founded by George Cheng in Hong Kong in 1983

• Trained at Beijing University as an Electrical Engineer.

• Imported keyboards from Japan and Europe were too expensive, so that drove him to build electronic keyboards in China, for China.

• In 1993 they moved to a 900sqm facility in Shenzhen for manufacture,

• Another factory was opened in 2003.

• Also In 2003 Medeli founded a special team to develop their own sound chips, in Shanghai.

• In 2009 Medeli moved production to ‘Medeli Park’ in Zhuhai (near HK) to a new 100,000sqm facility.

• Now, Medeli make 1.5million units per year, employing over 1000 people.As part of their manufacturing, they control:

• Plastic Injection Moulding (cases, keys, buttons)

• Metalwork

• Painting / Printing / silkscreen

• Wood Processing (Cabinets for pianos)• PCB assembly

• Complete production – from A to Z.

Medeli could be a disruptor in the Piano/Keyboard market in the UK, offering high quality products, at lower prices than Japanese competition
