Huss & Dalton DS-12 Drop Shoulder Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar & Case
We have taken delivery of these beautiful Huss & Dalton models. To keep these guitars pristine they aren't on display in our showroom but are available to look at upon request. Upon opening these guitars, each one has light marks in the pickguard region, presumably from where they test and set the guitar up initially. Perhaps it would be good if they used a protective film on the pickguard but they are the type of marks that appear after the first few plays and are not particularly noticeable in any realistic way. However, we wanted to point this out.
With 12 frets to the body and 24.9 scale length, these guitars have the power of our standard DS but with a rounder tonal quality. To many players, 12-fret guitars are imbued with near-mystical qualities. When the neck is moved two frets toward the body, the sound hole and bridge must follow its trajectory and the bracing must be rearranged to suit. There's no reason to think it will project like a 14-fretter, and it doesn't. It's bigger! And not a guitar for the timid!
