Yamaha FGX3 Red Label Electro-Acoustic Guitar
The perfect blend of heritage and modern inspiration

The Yamaha FGX3 Red Label brings together the charm of our iconic 1960s red label folk guitars with the innovation of today’s acoustic craftsmanship. Designed for players who appreciate timeless style and rich acoustic tone, it delivers a beautifully authentic experience with a vintage aesthetic and premium features.

At the heart of the FGX3 is a solid Sitka spruce top that has been treated with Yamaha’s exclusive Acoustic Resonance Enhancement (ARE) process. This gives the guitar the warm, aged tone of well-played wood, right from day one. Paired with solid mahogany back and sides, it produces a rich, balanced sound with strong midrange and excellent projection.

The newly refined scalloped bracing adds depth and resonance, while the revolutionary Atmosfeel pickup system captures every nuance of your performance with a clear, natural sound when plugged in. Whether you're playing on stage or recording at home, the FGX3 offers versatility and clarity with minimal effort.

The guitar’s traditional Western body shape, semi-gloss finish, and classic FG headstock pay homage to Yamaha’s long-standing design legacy, while the ebony fingerboard and bridge complete the high-end feel.

Heritage – The Return of the Red Label

The FG Red Label range pays tribute to one of Yamaha’s most iconic instruments. Originally labelled under "Nippon Gakki" (meaning “Musical Instruments of Japan”), these early guitars became beloved for their tone and craftsmanship. The new FGX3 continues this tradition, combining over fifty years of experience with a spirit of innovation.

Design Highlights

Solid Sitka Spruce Top
Known for its clarity and dynamic range, solid Sitka spruce is sourced from North America and offers a strong, rich tone ideal for strumming and fingerstyle playing.

Solid Mahogany Back and Sides
Mahogany delivers a mellow, woody sound with excellent midrange presence and a slower response, giving each note warmth and character.

Acoustic Resonance Enhancement (ARE)
Yamaha’s ARE process mimics the natural ageing of wood by controlling heat, humidity and pressure. This gives the top a matured tone and improved resonance that typically takes years to develop.

Classic FG Body Shape
Crafted with millimetre precision, the slightly wider body gives the FGX3 its signature warmth and projection, wrapped in a semi-gloss finish for that vintage look and feel.

Updated Scalloped Bracing
Borrowed and refined from the FG-180 50th anniversary model, the new bracing design boosts low-end response without sacrificing structural integrity or balance.

Atmosfeel Pickup System
A cutting-edge three-way pickup captures every detail:
• Piezo sensor under the saddle for low frequencies
• Internal microphone for mid and low-end warmth
• Contact sensor for high-end clarity

The result is a full, natural sound with easy-to-use controls. Blend the mic signal to suit your style – from solo acoustic sets to band performances, the FGX3 adapts beautifully.

Controls:
• Master Volume
• Microphone Blend
• Bass EQ (with dynamic centre frequency adjustment for stage control)
