Description
London Salute was written in 1982 to mark the 60th anniversary of the BBC and was first performed in a broadcast (one of many in subsequent years) by the BBC Concert Orchestra under Ashley Lawrence. It is a march-like evocation of the capital, very much as an outsider would see it, all hustle and bustle, with ceremonial and tradition around every corner - yet never pompous.
The work is commercially recorded by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia conducted by Gavin Sutherlandon Marco Polo 8.225185 and by the same orchestra under Paul Lewis on ASV White Line WHL 2138.
Duration: 3½ minutes
A PACK comprises one full score, string parts 4/4/3/4/2 and any wind, brass and percussion parts.
