Hummel's trumpet concerto was written in 1803 for the Viennese trumpet virtuoso Anton Weidinger (1767-1852) who had developed a fully chromatic keyed trumpet. The concerto was originally written in the Key of E but is nowadays more often played in Eb, so it can be comfortably performed on both Bb and Eb trumpets. This edition in Eb has parts for Bb and Eb trumpets.
