Orchestration Solo Penny-whistle or Irish pipes or Flute or Oboe or Soprano saxophone Flute, Oboe, Clarinet in Bb, Bassoon, Horn in F, Percussion (Suspended cymbal, Bodhran [Irish or Tenor drum], 4 Temple blocks, Wood block [1 player]), Keyboard (Electric keyboard or Piano)[optional] Strings (Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello, Bass) This concerto with a distinctly Celtic flavour features a penny-whistle as the solo instrument although the Irish Pipes (fully keyed) would be equally suitable. It could also be played with either a flute or an oboe or soprano saxophone as soloist The keyboard part can be omitted, but provides support to the orchestra if necessary. If an electric keyboard is used certain registration effects are indicated in the score. From the slow haunting theme at the start to the final romp to the finish it is fun to play and enjoyable to listen to. Duration: 9 minutes A PACK comprises one full score, string parts 4/4/3/4/2 and any wind, brassand percussion parts.
