Korg's highly regarded Minilogue offers uncomprimising anaglogue sound at an offordable price, and so it's no wonder why the synth is fast becoming a classic. With it's 2 VCO's, 4 voice polyphony and 37 slim-key keyboard the Minilogue is able to produce a plethera of true analogue sounds. This combined with a real wood rear panel and brushed aluminium finish, the Minilogue's style and performance makes it stand out from all else in its class. The polyphonic step-sequencer, real-time osciliscope, and easy to navigate design further cements this synth as must-have for both begginer and experienced keyboardists.
Analogue Synthesis
The specially developed synth circuits in the Minilogue deliver an experience unlike any other synth. The Minilogue offers four-voice true ananlogue polyphony with two independantly manipulable VCOs (sawtooth, triangle, and square) each with their own VCA and shaping knob. The cutoff and resonance filter is capable of being sent to a dedicated envelope generator, or it can also be controlled by the user with the key-track mode enabled. At the end of the signal chain is a second EG and a tape-style delay circuit that can be inserted before or after the filter envelope.
Presets and Performance
The Minilogue's ergonomic design is perfectly suited for creating and performing, and as soon as you find that killer sound, the Minilogue's 200 saveable and nameable presets allow you to quickly switch between custom made sounds in an instant. The unit also comes with 100 pre-programmed sounds that can be modified to create great sounding patches without any synthesis knowledge, with the oscilliscope giving real-time feeback with each change you make. Each parameter can be controlled via MIDI data, and so, opens up a whole host of live performance options.
Voice Modes
The Minilogue can combine the oscillators to offer 8 different voice modes.
Poly - Operates as a four voice synthesizer with the voice mode knob controlling chord inversion
Duo - Combines the two oscilllators with dutune
Unison - Stacks all oscillators on top of each other with dutune
Mono - Acts as a monosynth with a sub oscillator
Chord - Produces one of 14 different chords
Delay - Different from the tape-like delay unit, voices 2-4 are delayed after voice 1 at a user-defined tempo-set interval
Side Chain - A note reduces the sound of the preceding note by a user defined amount
Step Sequencer
The Minilogue features a polyphonic 16-step sequencer and can be both preprogrammed and saved, or recorded live in real-time with cycling overdubbing functionality.
